About the role
Clario, part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, develops regulated technology that supports clinical trials, diagnostics and medical decision‑making in regulated environments.
The Facilities Manager Europe (f/m/d) will support Clario’s facilities across Europe with a focus on the Estenfeld, Germany office.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall facilities support to ensure delivery of facility operations, building management, structural measures, maintenance teams, housekeeping, reception, cafeteria, asset and visitor management, and security & safety protocols.
- Clario's primary European facilities are in Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Switzerland and Turkey.
- Support facility layout standards for electrical systems, HVAC, IT infrastructure, materials and access control; collaborate with local contractors, vendors and departments to complete these processes and ensure compliance with local and state building codes.
- Manage and coordinate logistics for opening, relocating or closing facilities, including security systems, access control, furniture, signage, showroom/marketing requirements and telecommunications.
- Participate in capital expenditure budgeting, manage purchasing requests and accurately forecast and prepare facility-related budgets.
- Conduct financial and business analysis and prepare reports on expenditures, savings and cost-optimization opportunities.
- Ensure facilities are operated and maintained in compliance with local, state and national laws and company standards; develop and refine standards and ensure annual occupational safety and fire inspections where applicable.
- Maintain communication with local management teams, participate in management meetings and deliver reports on occupancy, site launches, facility improvements and audits.
- Act as the first point of contact for landlords, labor inspectorates, municipalities, authorities and occupational safety departments.
- Build relationships with local building management and manage third-party contractors and vendors, including monitoring completed tasks, overseeing technical acceptance and approving invoices.
- Manage leases and facility agreements, understand legal and commercial contract terms and ensure contracts are renewed and negotiated in a timely manner.
- Support sustainability initiatives by tracking and reporting emissions and waste, implementing energy-saving measures and suggesting areas for improvement.
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans including fire drills, evacuation procedures and pandemic-related safety measures.
- Coordinate safety and facility-related training so employees are aware of evacuation procedures, safety protocols and correct use of shared resources.
- Contribute to team success by assisting colleagues, ensure adherence to SOPs, and support establishment and enforcement of departmental standards to maintain consistent service quality.
- Enhance expertise through company-sponsored training programs and keep up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management or a comparable technical degree plus additional business management training or further development.
- Experience: Five or more years in facilities management or an equivalent role, including proven experience managing technical building projects.
- Languages: Fluent German and English are required; additional language skills are beneficial.
- Skills: Organisational and time management, creative problem-solving, strong project management abilities, and proficiency with MS Office.
- Personal: Ability to influence without direct authority, adaptability to changing priorities, professional and positive attitude, and a strong desire to succeed.
- Travel: Flexibility to travel to European sites as needed, typically averaging two trips per year.
