Germany job guide

Application documents for Germany

Send the documents the employer requests, in the language of the role, with evidence that makes your fit easy to verify.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

CV

Keep dates, employers, locations, titles, and outcomes consistent. Lead with recent evidence relevant to the job, use measurable results where accurate, and explain important gaps briefly rather than hiding them.

Language and format

Follow the language used in the vacancy unless the employer asks for another. Use a readable PDF, selectable text, standard headings, and a filename that identifies you and the document. Verify every page after export.

Cover letter

A cover letter is useful when requested or when it explains motivation, relocation, a career change, or a specific match. Avoid repeating the CV. Connect two or three role requirements to concrete examples.

Certificates and sensitive data

Attach qualifications only when requested or clearly relevant. Share the minimum personal data needed at each stage. Do not email passwords, bank credentials, or unnecessary identity documents, and verify the employer domain before uploading sensitive records.

Final check

Confirm the employer, role title, requisition number, contact details, attachments, and application deadline. Keep a private copy of the exact version submitted and the privacy notice shown by the employer.
