Statutory employee contributions

Germany Health Insurance Calculator 2026

Estimate your monthly employee share of statutory health and care insurance. Private insurance requires an individual insurer quote; this calculator does not price or recommend private plans.

Germany Insurance Calculator

Estimate health insurance cost

Regular salaried employment with statutory sickness-benefit entitlement, steady monthly pay above EUR 2,000 and no other contributory income only. Apprenticeships, multiple jobs, pension recipients, partial months and special exemptions are not covered. Child status must be recognized by the care insurer.

What the estimate includes

The health contribution uses the general statutory rate and your insurer's additional contribution, with the employee paying half. Care contributions account for recognized parent status, eligible children under 25 and the different employee share in Sachsen. Displayed amounts are approximate and rounded to whole euros.

Supported employment circumstances

  • Regular salaried employment, age 18 to 66, with statutory sickness-benefit entitlement.
  • Steady monthly gross pay above EUR 2,000 and no other contributory income.
  • One employment arrangement, with the selected state and child status applying to the contribution month.

Mini-jobs, transitional earnings, student insurance, self-employment, civil servants, apprenticeships, multiple jobs, pension recipients, partial months and special exemptions require a different assessment. An unavailable estimate is not a zero contribution. Confirm your actual contribution and child-status evidence with your insurer or payroll team.

Private insurance is a separate decision

The general annual employee income threshold for 2026 is EUR 77,400. Exceeding it alone does not establish eligibility to switch: timing, insurance history and individual exceptions can matter. The calculator does not assess those conditions or estimate private premiums, employer subsidies or savings.
